What is a Charter School?

  Charter schools are public, state-funded schools created through legislation in 1994.  Charter schools contract with the state or local school district to provide educational services.  Charter schools are TUITION-FREE.

  The purpose of charter schools is to provide additional academic choices for parents and students.  Most charter schools are designed to provide a learning environment that will improve student achievement.
